Gloucester Resident Returns Fly-Tipped Rubbish

A frustrated resident, Holly Smith, discovered a pile of rubbish on a country lane in Upton St Leonards in January 2023. She found letters containing an address and returned the rubbish back to the owner. Luckily, she owns a trailer and was able to fit all of the waste in to remove it to prevent further issues for other road users.

She said: “You know it’s in everyone’s way, it’s in the middle of the road, so I just wanted to get it out the way pretty much I just had that urge to get it gone.”

She reported it to the local council and sent the letter, showing the suspect address, as physical evidence. They gave her consent to return the rubbish to the owner and she even claims that the neighbours had praised her actions.

Unfortunately, some waste disposal services will fly-tip customers’ waste to avoid charges and fees that would occur with the proper process. Our customers never have to worry about this as we do our best to dispose of all waste quickly and efficiently. We recycle up to 90% of all waste that we collect!
